What kind of fabric should I use?

This came out cute. I was a little confused about in what order to sew the pieces together, but once I figured it out I was pleased with the result. This was my first sewing project.

I made this bag up last night using remnants. I did add a magnet snap and a decorative button on the outside! Very cute, thank you so much for sharing
