this would be cool as a maternity Caftan if you make it with an empire waist.

I'm a beginner at sewing, but I did make this dress. I used an inexpensive, very light, airy, cotton material I purchased on sale in case I messed up ...It took me rather longer than 30 minutes to make it! LOL! I call it "My Swear-y Kaftan"! I also learned about the 1-step buttonhole feature on my sewing machine making this dress. I have also, since, made a shorter version that is about thigh length with a pair of matching palazzos - I made both out of an old flat sheet that had a unique and interesting animal print motif on the top edge. I used that pattern for the design around the bottom of the palazzo pant legs. Long, funny, story shorter, they EVENTUALLY turned out quite nicely! Lol! Thank you so much! :0)

I made this today for my mom out of some fabric I had bought for another project and never used. I have been sewing for nearly 50 years and it took me longer than 30 minutes. It turned out cute though and I used my serger on the neckline and armholes as I didn't like the selvage on the silky fabric. I did a rolled hem. I made it 51 inches from shoulder to hem and it hits me mid calf, I am 5'11", mom is 5'5" so 4 inches need to come off. Otherwise, I will be making this again.

This is wonderful. I plan to make it very soon. Imagine not having to worry about "fit"!!!!! I have a wedding to attend soon and I think this would be beautiful with the right kind of material. Thank you so much! By the way, the one you show here is georgeous.

I think I will feel actually pretty in this caftan!! I will make it soon. After Christmas is made for others. Thank you very much. Yours is beautiful.
