You won't believe how nifty this project is. The name says it all - the Pleated Apron with Built in Hot Pads is really useful. It's no ordinary apron because with this cool sewing project, you won't be searching for hot pads!

I modified this pattern into a bib apron and lined it. putting the "holder" pieces between the face and lining. I made 6 of them last Christmas and they were a HUGE hit.

I think you will have to be very careful when you use this apron because if you allow the apron material to touch the heat source, you will catch on fire.

I would absolutely love if someone could help me to make this with a top on it. I am a truly messy cook. This is an awesome idea...thanks for the time and consideration to share it. Cathy

One thing I would is add a top. And before making it you would want to make sure that your skirt isn't too short, so when your taking food out of the oven its long enough to put on the counter without going on your tiptoes:)

I would most definitely add a top. I know that the skirt apron is very popular and much cuter, but you can sculpt the top or add some frills. In the kitchen function tops form. I have ruined shirts wearing only the skirt apron as well as having to change before a dinner party because I made a mess of myself... :-)

Add a microfibre towel or teatowel across the stomach area that is attached by velco and thus removable. This is for me as I tend to get a wet stomach when I handwash my dishes.

I have a vintage one that also has a button on one side to attach a small dish towel.
