What a novel idea! I certainly have never have seen one of these. I think I might also attached some non slip fabric to the bottom of the pin cushion do that it wouldn't be easy to knock off the table. I have always used a little bowl for my thread off cuts but it fills up so fast and this pin cushion thread catcher combo will work beautifully.

I use the bags that dry cereal come in to put inside my "thread catcher" bags. The threads, snips, scraps, etc. are easily discarded with nothing sticking to the lining of the bag!

Im gping to have to make a few of these for my sewing station in my craft room. I may have to ask my husband for something heavier than door hinges for weights. I'm famous for knocking pins to the floor.

A thread catcher and weighted pin holder combination I find is absolutely essential when using a serger and very nice to have at a regular sewing machine. The tutorial is easy to follow. Great scrap fabric project and wonderful gift idea for any sewer. Using boning to keep the thread catcher always open seems a small challenge but well worth the effort.

This is a genius idea!! One of my least favorite parts of sewing is the little collection of loose thread and debris that piles up by my elbow. I'll definitely be making one of these to put by my machine.

I have been looking for a pattern for one of these! So glad to finally have found one. The good thing about this set up is the thread catcher hangs off the table and doesn't take up room on my sewing table--the table is always so crowded. I think I will modify it slightly by velcroing on the bag straps to the bottom of the pin cushion. I would probably have all the pins falling into the trash bin when I emptied the thread catcher. Velcro would make that easier.

I totally agree with you on my pins all falling in the trash can also. Have you made this with the velcro yet? Does it work? I was wandering myself if you could find some way to seperate them to not bring the whole thing wit you. This seems like a great pattern and a very cute looking design. I love it.

Used to love your site. But since you have incorporated so many "click" ad links - I seldom visit anymore. You can't move across a page without dozens of unwanted ad links that you have to close. Not worth the hassle, and that makes me sad.

I totally understand you selling advertising space ... But when 90% or more of the page is flashing and pop up adverts it makes the page unusable. This site has some lovely projects but it's ruined by the excessive and sometimes offensive adverts.
