  • Patterned Elastic
  • Westcott Self-Healing Cutting Mat #15159
  • Westcott Titanium Bonded 8" ExtremEdge Bent Scissors #15351

Instructions:

  1. Lay the elastic onto the cutting mat.

  2. Use the cutting mat to measure out and cut the pieces to 10” lengths with scissors. Optional: Longer pieces of elastic can also be used to create headbands.

  3. Fold the pieces over and tie the ends in a simple knot. Lastly, trim the excess elastic at a 45 degree angle with scissors.

These are pretty basic and so easy to create! I have made headbands and hair ties using good elastic and gathering a nice fabric over the elastic and machine stitching the ends together. The fabric is cut shorter than the elastic so,that it is gathered when completed, but when stretching to,use it flattens out. The fabric does not tangle the hair and is soft and easily tossed in the washer. These make great little girl party favors! So pretty and a great project ...thanks for sharing!
