  • Co-ordinating thread
  • Pattern Paper
  • Paper Scissors
  • Fabric Shears
  • Measuring Tape
  • Ruler
  • Pins or Clover Clips
  • Sewing Machine or Overlocker

DIY Dress Tutorial


  1. Create your pattern pieces by tracing out your sleeve pattern and body pattern.

  2. Use the slash and spread method to widen the sleeves pattern and the body pattern.

  3. Cut out your fabric.

  4. Sew the side seams and shoulders.

  5. Attach the sleeves to the dress at the armhole area.

  6. Hem the neckline, sleeves and bottom of the dress and you're done!

I love how versatile this pattern is based on the fabric you use. With a dark suede, it looks like gothic chic, perfect for any sensual nighttime outing. Use a floral-printed cotton, and you can look like a 70s flower child, ready for a beachside bash. This is a pattern I plan to keep in my archive for years to come!
