I love this idea, it would make a fab birthday gift filled with either pencil crayons or felt tips. The sections do not need much fabric so it is a great way to use up scraps and I love the mix and match look of using so many different colours, you could use coloured fabric to match the colours of the pencils that go in each section. The pattern is really easy to follow and it does not take very long to make up the main time is spent cutting and preparing the fabric than sewing it. As it is made up of rectangles and straight stitches it I shall really easy for a beginner.
