About Gathering Fabric Sewing Techniques

  1. Ruffler foot: Pretty but not great for exact gathering

  2. Gathering foot: Lighter ruffle and can’t be adjusted but still pretty.

  3. Machine Gathering: There are two methods, the basting stitch method, and the floss method.

For any beginner this is a very important video to watch if you plan on gathering anything at all. I tried all but the flossing technique and I still like the triditional way best but I always did it single but must try the double one. Everyone has their own favorite way to do it. This video teaches you 4 different ways. This is a must watch. Sometimes I split my gathering in 4 sections to give a even gather on project.
