DIY Cropped Hoodie with Drawstring Waist

"Learn how to upcycle an oversized hoodie or sweater into a cute cropped sweatshirt with a drawstring waist. A good comfortable hoodie is definitely a wardrobe essential, but sometimes you just want the coziness of a sweatshirt, but with a little more flair. This is an easy DIY that you can complete in an hour or less! It's a great sewing project for beginner sewists and upcyclists. Materials List

  • oversized hoodie
  • fabric marker or chalk
  • ruler
  • scissors
  • seam ripper
  • drawstring
  • eyelets and eyelet pliers
  • sewing machine
  • ballpoint pins or clips

Instruction

  1. Seam rip the top of the pocket off the front of the hoodie.

  2. Crop the hoodie to the length you desire.

  3. Insert eyelets into the bottom edge.

  4. Fold up the hem, making sure it goes up past your eyelets, and sew in place to make a drawstring tube.

  5. Insert the drawstring through the eyelets.

  6. Done!
