How to Make Upcycled Denim Coasters:

  1. Find the side of the jeans that has the seam with double stitching. This will be the most sturdy.

  1. Cut that seam part out of the jeans. Trim the excess bits of jean off the seam of the jeans you are going to use.

  1. Use the shorter piece of your jean seam on the inside and the longer pieces on the outside.

  2. Run a bead of glue down the center of the seam. Do not glue the entire strip at once because the glue will dry before you get to it. Begin rolling the jean up on itself. Go slowly and try to keep the roll as even as possible.

  1. Repeat this process down the rest of the line of your seam. As you continue to roll, try and keep it so that the piece stays flat and does not become cone-shaped.

Tip: As your piece gets larger use the edge of your table to roll your jean coaster up evenly.

  1. When you are ready to join the second seam onto your first rolled seam, simply place a dot of glue at the end of the seam and connect them. Then, repeat the rolling process along your second seam.

Note: Depending on how long the jeans were and how wide you want your coaster, you may add a third or fourth seam. Simply roll until you are satisfied with the size of your DIY coaster.

  1. Place a pin at the very end of your last seam that you roll up and allow that to dry overnight. Then, your denim coaster is ready for use!
