Divide the gathered length into fourths. Divide flat piece into fourths also. Pin at that point. Divide it again. Each time your area will become smaller automatically gathering as you go. I was taught this trick when I was very young and still use it today.

This is such a simple pattern and yet the result looks very professional indeed. I've never tried to make a ruffled skirt before. I always struggle to get gathers even across a length of fabric. Does anyone have any help or advice to ensure the gathers are even along the bottom of the skirt?

This pattern looks so much like the original and you can make it at a fraction of the price! I want to make it in multiple colors!

I love this skirt !! I get so many complimentsI wear it! But I now have a challenge for you. I tried to make a pattern for a tunic top from a designer called Kollontai and it wasn't a succes. This tunic is priced around $175!!!
