What an adorable project. I want to make this for friends and family for the holidays. I like that they are easy, cute and the best part is that I can send them thru the mail without fear of them breaking. That's the best part plus they are not heavy so postage is cheap.

Wow, this is a popular project, and like Linda mentions, I could see using this for crafts or art, crayons, or even buttons. This would be a neat item to make for the bakers and future bakers or crafters in your family and start a new tradition or even future heirlooms! You never see these for sale, or at least I haven't, and it is a great way to transport dinner rolls as well as keeping them hot at the table. Thanks for sharing!

I love this vintage pattern. Not only for dinner rolls! I like it for holding my sewing threads, safety pins, etc.

Oh my gosh was I surprised when my young daughter in law nearly flipped when she so my Granny's dinner roll holder. I have had it in the cupboard for many a year and just decided that it is time to use it. As I set the roll's into the holder I thought of all the comments that where going to come my way. "where did you scratch this out mom" or "this belongs in the year nineteen dot". You can imagine my utter surprise when the young ones absolutely love it and said vintage is back. Well I know what I am making for their birthday this year. Thanks Gran....with your vintage dinner roll holder I was cool for a evening and made many promises to make dinner roll holders.

This fabric dinner roll cozy is so lovely. It brings a smile to anyone at the table when the rolls are passed around. Functional too as the rolls stay warm through dinner. The tutorial is very easy to follow. Looks complicated but surprisingly easy to make. It would be perfect with a matching table runner.

This would be such a unique and beautiful addition to your dining table. Sign up for our free newsletter to see this featured next week along with other projects you can start and complete in one sitting.

I couldn't down load your [pattern

Hello! If you scroll down past the first two photos on the blogger's post, you will see a link that reads "Download Vintage Inspired Dinner Roll Holder". This is where the pattern is and will download from there. Please make sure your software is up to date before downloading as that may be why you are experiencing problems. Hope that helps! I just love the 20's, I lived thru the 60's so its NOT my favorite.

I love this vintage roll cozy and saw one many years ago but couldn't figure out how to make it. Thanks to your tutorial, I will be making one soon. I do have a question though.... my dinner rolls are quite large, could I make it bigger using 14" circles?

Muy lindo.

I have pc and cannot download pattern for the dinner role holder. When I click on download pattern for dinner role holder the tool bar reads: gingercake.typepad.com. , I too get a dark grey screen and it is blank.

outdated browser or OS?

I have not been able to download the .pdf for this project. I just get a blank gray screen and nothing happens. Anybody know how to download it? I am on a Mac.

This just made my day. I have a vintage one that a neighbor made and embroider for me, at least 30 years. I cherish it and my daughter has always wanted one of her own. On and off I would look for a pattern but never came up one until today. I will be making this tomorrow for her birthday which is on Sunday. Thank you.

I had NO problems with the pattern/directions opening. Clear instructions and the project came out perfect! I've made several of the holders (every time someone comes over for dinner they see it and want one) I am going to make one using fusible fleece to see if that will help keep the rolls warm. Thanks much for the tutorial!

The tutorial and Sewing Pattern are not opening when clicked. It would be nice once you use the 'Click Here for Sewing Pattern' that it really is right there on the screen to view instead of being redirected to the 'tutorial' by the Vendor.

@shellsz11, First, click on the link that says "click here for sewing pattern." A new window will open up that takes you to the original designer's site with additional images and instructions. From here, scroll down a bit until you see a link that says "Download Vintage Inspired Dinner Roll Holder." Once you click on this, the full pattern should download automatically. It is a PDF file, and you will need the latest version of Adobe installed on your computer to open and view the pattern. I hope this helps! --Editor of AllFreeSewing
