As a teenager I TOOK IN hundreds of pairs of denim jeans. I could sew so friends and friends of friends would line up to have theirs done. I have never let out a pair of pants. Somehow, to me, that is an admission that I will remain overweight forever. But please ignore my issues (lol!) because this is a good tutorial and it isn't at all difficult to do.

If you need to put a gusset in it ALWAYS goes in the back No wonder there are so many honey do' seamstresses out there I have been sewing and been a tailor for over years and in my time have seen a lot of cloth butchers and now I know where they are coming from Side jean seams have a brad to keep the pocket from splitting You can even see it in this picture Putting a gusset in is defeating the purpose of the brad Any competent tailor will tell you EVERYTHING is done from the BACK seam Pants are taken in or let out at the BACK seam Side seams are only touched if having to recut and the amount taken out is too large and will misshape the pants It is certainly true that this is a dying ART This is why so much of the homeRead More sewing LOOKS like it was home sewn The same as trying to shorten a zipper by bar tacking the bottom with thread Buy some bottom stops or use the one originally on the zipper Even buying a few top stops will work much better than trying to sew it shut at the bottom

What to do if there is no seam at all in the waist band, only opening is the front where the button is...

Your site is not easy to access. I press on how to let out pants on pinterest expecting to go directly to the information and end up trying to find it. can you simplify your links? A little frustrating. I get bounced to all sorts of other links which I dont want.

how do u let pants out with elastic waistband.thank you please help me

Hello raerae9168056! I am not actually sure! Consider asking our active Facebook community. Maybe someone else has an answer. Kaylee, editor of AllFreeSewing.com

You would still insert the additional fabric according to your measurement needed but you would need to do the waistband separately. Open it up at the seam and insert more elastic.

I am going to try this one. I have seen the back seam done the same way. This might fit better. Not sure.

This trick only works if you gain weight in your waist and not in your thighs.

It never said anything about your thighs. Not sure why it would then deserve a 2 star rating. I have jeans where my thighs still fit but I can't button it up so this would be perfect. Maybe look for a tutorial where you can open the legs up and use a funky fabric.

I have quite a few denims to do this to. Instead of buying new denims I can now fix my old ones.

Would love to watch the tutorial but all I get are pop up ads for Ziploc bags and cars when I click on colored text to view

I bought a pair of paints that were cut funny, the waist was way to tight and the rest of the pants were too loose. I did this and now they are sooo comfy and it only took about 30 minutes and I think that was mostly cuz I wasn't sure I was doing it right.
