I have done a variation of this idea, using a combination of tracing real leaves of all,sizes and types for a pattern template, and then free handing others that are of a smoother style. I used various lovely fabrics, then added some bar edging and veining with varying tapering widths... Takes a lot of time, but is soothing work if you start early and use the process to unwind! The results would be worth it!

Nice table runner idea! I do wish there had been a pattern for the leaves though. :)
