Amplify® RazorEdge™ Fabric Shears (10")
Felt
Double-sided fusible interfacing
Sewing machine

Instructions:

To get started, create a dual layer of felt by applying a double-sided fusible interfacing to one piece of felt and adding a second layer of felt on top. This double layer will give the baskets more stability to maintain their shape.
Using the 8” Amplify Fabric Shears, cut different sized circles from the felt layers. Use a cereal bowl or a canister as a template to help create the perfect circle. You will be surprised at how easily these shears cut through several layers of felt.
Cut eight, evenly spaced, 2” slots around each felt circle.
Pin the cut edges back together and hand-stitch or use a sewing machine to sew the sides of the storage baskets.

Love these little felt baskets! I would use thicker, stiffer interfacing to make sure they held up. I could see extending this project to other fabrics such as tapestry, denim scraps from old jeans, or any reinforced fabric remnants. These would make a nice gift or a great ways to teach kids sorting Yet easily stacked and stored away when not needed. Light weight and non breakable little baskets too! Great and easy project idea!

Pretty open fluted-like organization baskets made from two layers of colorful felt. I can think of so many uses for them. From the instructions, they seem quite easy to make. Nice to make use of left-over pieces of felt. Change the felt colors to seasonal ones for great gift ideas.
