What a great pattern for a bath mat. I always have a few bath mats because I wash the one I am using every week. Also it changes up the bathroom a bit. This way I can make a few and use different fabrics. The instructions are easy enough. Also it is more economical. The ones in the stores are overpriced and there is not much variety. Thank you.

I have been looking to change my bath mats but could not find what I liked anywhere . Never thought to make one out of regular fabric and a towel or terry cloth. I love this idea and I love the jumbo ric rac too. I love that I can choose my own colors and fabric I use. So easy with this tutorial and you can design it the way you like. Leave edges plain or even add a ruffle for a more elegant look.

Since store-bought bathmats are becoming more and more expensive it makes sense to DIY and sew a color-coordinating or themed one for a bathroom. Using a still thirsty old terry cloth towel for the underside that goes well with a fabric choice for the top is a great way to recycle an old towel. I like the economy of this project and the oversized ric-rac edging is charming.

Love the fabric you used for your mat! I used a well used bath towel for under. I loved the butterfly fabric I used and intend to use it to border new bath towels as well.

I love the butterfly fabric you used on the mat. Did you use it to make a shower curtain too. I also am going to put some on a towel. I think I am going to buy some terry cloth and make the towel and add my fabric on it. I am having a hard time finding a bathmat I want to buy so I will make mine too. Thanks for sharing a picture of your finished bathmat and the great idea to use an old towel.
