You want your baby to be perfectly comfortable during her first few weeks at home, but baby clothes patterns that will please both mommy and baby can be hard to find. These Newborn DIY Onesie Gowns are easy to make and cost next to nothing.

Just one yard of cotton creates two onesies, so you can easily create several sets for baby's first trip home. They are soft and cozy, and you can customize them any way you like. You can also give them as DIY baby shower gifts that will be both cute and useful.

Have not made this yet.

I did not use these type of gowns very much when my kids were babies but I think they are making a come back because they are used today. They look very comfrotable on the feet. I am going to give this a try but I think I may try a zipper because I do not like to make plackets.

A baby gown, rather than a onsie is often the best garment for newborns. Not so many snaps to line up! The tutorial that accompanies the article is clear enough however the construction steps, particularly in the placket and neckline area, may be a slight challenge for some.
