This DIY pillowcase tutorial also demonstrates how to make French seams, so you can learn new sewing techniques that you may not be familiar with. Whether you're making pillowcases for your kids, as a quick way to upgrade your bedroom, or for our charity drive in May, there's no way you can go wrong with this easy DIY pillowcase tutorial.

Step 1: Wash and press fabrics.

Step 2: Stack fabrics, matching selvage ends. Using a ruler and rotary cutter, trim selvage ends to remove white selvage strip. Trim opposite end to ensure everything is the same length and square.

Step 3: Iron 9” wide piece of fabric in half lengthwise, right sides out.

Step 4: Stack pieces as follows:
            - 9" coordinating fabric right-side up, unfolded.
            - On top of that, place the 27" main fabric right-side up. Make sure all raw edges match at the top edge.

Step 5: Roll up the 27” piece of fabric, starting at the bottom. Stop rolling when you reach the center of the 9" coordinating fabric.

Step 6: Fold bottom of 9” fabric up to meet the top edge. Carefully pin entire length.

Step 7: Sew 1/4” seam.

Step 8: Pull fabric from the center and turn right side out. Iron everything flat.

Step 9: Fold the pillowcase in half with wrong sides together. Sew narrow seam along raw edges. Turn pillow case inside out and sew generous 1/4” seam.

Step 10: Trim threads and turn right side out. Press everything flat.

Super great instructions! This project can be modified to add extra bands of fabric to the cuff. I have seen this as a taco, burrito or jelly roll method. I plan on making these for gifts for my grown children in some sophisticated fabrics, but I am also going to look into the charity project! Pillowcases are always something people can use and is a lovely reminder of the maker, as I have four of them made for me by a dear friend in fabrics that she specifically chose for me, so I love it for sure! Thanks for this great tutorial and idea!

Once again your projects are beautiful, love the pillows especially the stars and planets.Thank you
