The folded design of the Stashbusting Origami Christmas Mug Rug is elegant, understated, and adds a little festive flair to your countertop! The folding technique is so simple but looks incredibly intricate - so you can impress all your friends with your sewing skills. DIY home decor ideas at Christmas tend to focus on tree ornaments or themed table toppers, so this adorable (and functional) piece of kitchen or dining room decor is a nice, unexpected alternative! Plus, depending on the fabric that you choose, these great little mug rugs can be used year round. Adjust the size measurements to make placemats or trivets.

omg i love this pattern! it's so complex looking and has such a beautiful design and colors!

The folded fabric star pattern for the mug mat looks intricate and complicated but is actually quite easy to do. Charming to make out of many small sized fabric leftovers, this easy to do project can also be made into a hanging ornament or made larger than the mug mat size and incorporated into a traditional embroidery hoop for use as wall dcor. I can only imagine what other projects this folded star can be made into!
