50s Dress with Knotted Shoulders

We don't need to tell you how stunning this vintage-inspired dress sewing pattern because it's obvious!

You won't find a more stunning dress to make for yourself or someone you know who loves all things vintage, particularly from the 1950s. It's both modern and vintage, which makes it even more lovely.

Wear this beauty to your next cocktail party or formal event and you're sure to have all eyes on you. And when they ask who made your dress, you can impress them even more by saying you did!

From the Blogger: "Gorgeous 50's style tea dress with knotted shoulders. Shown here made in a Hawaiian pattern scuba fabric. Free sewing pattern and tutorial with tips on fabrics and styling."

I think you have to download the pattern from the same place she downloaded hers, it's definitely a link. The original skater dress is gorgeous but your take on the knotted shoulders takes it to a whole other level and that's what this pattern is mostly about. Dresses like this look amazing in some thick patterned fabric like brocade.

Are any of these patterns actually available for downloading? Or am I a dummy that thinks you have to download them? Because every link I go there's only a blog telling you their sewing adventures but there's no actual pattern, like the ones you buy.

Retro is so on trend with this fabulous project so thank you for the free pattern, it is just beautiful! The whole dress is oh so reminiscent of the fifties and the waist line just has me wanting to make it TODAY even though it is definitely winter here in South Africa. I am sure that Audrey Hepburn or Doris Day would be proud to wear this, lol!

What a beautiful vintage pattern! It takes me back to the era of Jackie Kennedy. A large floral design would make this the perfect dress for a spring outdoor wedding or other event. Love this one!

Love your pincushion with attachment, great idea, gardening belt is great will be making it as a keen gardener I could use it a lot.Thank you.

Can this dress be modified for plus size women?

Hi jasmiriah, this link on the blogger's site describes how to scale a pattern up or down to fit different sizes: http://www.sewdifferent.co.uk/sizing/ Hope this helps!

This dress is a great vintage throwback pattern. It would look great in black with a strand of pearls.
