These really are so easy to make. I downsized the eight-inch circle a bit so the ornament would be slightly smaller. Several trees could be made at one time by stacking a few fabric layers and cutting them out all at once. They would be great as part of a holiday garland as well.

It looks like these can be made pretty quickly and kept simple, or if you wanted to be fancier, you could add a ribbon or decorative fabric tape as a garland along the diagonal lines of the tree. You could even add some little beads, buttons or fluff balls. Of course, then you may need to add a stiffer interfacing to take the added bulk, but it would be really cute!

I made a whole bunch of them for a Christmas theme I call White and Green (I don't have a picture of them). However, I found them easy and satisfaction. I did a white fabric on the back and added a green white print with trees (which is that colors theme). I believe a beginner could whip them out.
