I seen this technique not to long ago and it is my new way to keep elastic from twisting. I never thought that just putting that extra sewing across the top would make a difference but you will be amazed at how much it does and it will save you so much time and heartache in the long run when it twist and you have to redo the elastic. Just a tip for when you are putting the elastic through the finished waistband make sure you check to see if you are sewing the elastic right so you do not get twisted before you start. I have done that so many times. This is a great video and so worth it for beginners. You will be glad you watched it.

This is a great technique. I had to remake the elastic waist for the pajamas of a home bound elderly person who was losing weight and could not have bunching at the waist area, so this came in handy for ease of comfort and being able to grasp the band easily without extra bulk. This would be great for making PJ bottoms for kids as well or simple slacks. Anything that is faster and easier in both form and function is always a plus! Thanks for sharing!

A very simple tip but it is so useful. I love to make a quick skirt for spring or summer outings and using a casing for elastic I c an make a quick skirt for myself. Do you have girls who like a variety of clothes? A small length of fabric and some waistband elastic makes a great little skirt. No more twisting elastic any more. What is stopping you?
