Nothing is scarier than cutting into an old favorite piece of clothing, but it's easy to upcycle t-shirts or other tops when the results yield this Sew Retro Lace Shirt. Do-it-yourself shirts never looked so daringly Edwardian. Thanks to this simple shirt pattern embellishment, you can transform your old white button up to reflect the romance from a century ago. All it takes is a dowdy top, some lace, and of course, your needle and thread to create this masterpiece.

Finding a shirt with a mandarin type stand up collar may be a challenge to duplicate this look. Adding lace and ribbon and other trims to an already made shirt does save time and gives the shirt a decidedly retro look. Very pretty to also shorten the sleeves to length and then add lace to the bottom of the sleeves.

I love this retro lace shirt and it is made from a pre-existing shirt. Looks very 1900's and is a great way to make those Victorian era costumes instead of starting from scratch. Is there one for a girl? Nice tutorial.
