I usually use my overlocker to finish seams as it is really quick and easy but for some of the more delicate and smaller childrens clothes I was looking for an alternative which looks more professional. These are great and I have tried both the french and flat seams which give a clean finish to clothing and bags. It does take longer to complete than using the overlocker but for some projects it is worth taking the extra time to give a cleaner finish.

Are you wanting to learn to sew but are wondering where you should start when sewing your seams then this tutorial on 6 seam finishes is a must read tutorial. It tells you about each seam when to use it and how to sew it and even has pictures so you can not just read but see it being done. This is a very thought out tutorial. So do yourself a favor and read it.
