Watermelon Softie
"This easy to hand sew Watermelon Softie is great for beginner sewers and for kids to sew with their mum. The simple design means you don't have lots of pieces to cut out and the step by step photo tutorial makes it easy and straight forward to follow. You'll easily be able to make this in an afternoon and you can adjust the template to make a giant watermelon softie or a teeny weeny one!"

This is a very creative project to make with children. I really like the finished product and as one other comment listed, this could easily be used for other fruits. I don't particularly care for sewing the entire project using a hand needle but I love the idea. I would recommend using this as a new beginner idea for a new sewist.

This is a cute idea! Alternatively to gluing the 'felt seeds', you could stitch them on ... It would take longer but it might hold better, especially if you need to clean it. Or you could use fabric pens to draw on the seeds and even detail out the 'rind' a bit if you are artistic. For a more formal version, sew on some black beads and white beads for seeds... An upscale version! Love this idea.... Thanks for sharing !

This is a very clever idea, which could be adapted for a whole variety of fruit. It's made of felt, so there's no need to worry about fraying edges. I was thinking how brilliant it would be to make a massive floor cushion shaped like a piece of fruit. A watermelon would be a really comfortable sofa shape!
