Cindy Lammon puts it best when she writes, "I'm attracted to the clean and simple yet colorful style of modern quilting. Mix all that with some traditional designs, and ... you have the perfect recipe for some fresh and modern Christmas quilts." Her book with That Patchwork Place, Simply Modern Christmas: Fresh Quilting Patterns for the Holidays highlights 14 stunning projects that combine tried-and-true traditional patterns with a bright, modern style.

Simply Modern Christmas: Fresh Quilting Patterns for the Holidays isn't only about quilts, though. The best thing about this collection is the wide range of projects it places at your fingertips. Though many of the patterns are meant for quilts. Lammon also includes easy-to-follow tutorials for stockings, table runners, tablecloths, and even tree skirts. This book is a Christmas crafter's dream.

Though all the tutorials are equally easy to follow, the skill level required for each project ranges from beginner to intermediate. This is a great book to learn with, as it walks you through projects appropriate for beginners and then builds on the skills acquired in those tutorials to allow you to quilt more complicated patterns. Whether you have a long time to make an entire Christmas quilt, or just want to practice your technique and put together a tablecloth or tree skirt, this book has something for every quilter.

I received a sewing desk, handmade, from my husband, 3 years ago.

I received a sewing machine as a Xmas gift some 40 years ago. I finally "died" last year and I haven't been able to replace it. Would so like to start sewing and quilting again.
